Why did you decide to buy a solar roof? We’ll see what my unconscious pulls up! Well, the reason why I bought a Solar Roof is actually I’ve always been interested in the technology and the house we're putting the roof on was built way back in 1984 for energy efficiency. And at that time I did have a solar collector for hot water heating, but we didn't have the technology back then practically to do a solar. And now I’ve heard about the third generation of the Tesla Solar tile and then I looked online and checked out different sources and I found an excellent video on explaining it and that convinced me and I thought, “well I’m going to go ahead and do it!” I have a Tesla car and I was thinking hey this would be great - I have a Tesla Roof that will charge up my Tesla car.

We're having all these south facing roof with the active collecting tiles and then there's also a garage that also has a south facing roof. We cut down a tree to allow more light on that and actually we cut down the trees on the south of our house to allow more light in. Another reason to going solar too is - again there is climate change and again you can argue back and forth the degree of causation, but the facts are that the earth is warming up. To burn fossil fuel - besides increasing co2, it’s environmentally not sound in terms of the atmosphere itself. This would be a cleaner energy source that uses the sun. It makes sense especially now that we have the technology.

Sanford's home is super unique in that he built it to conserve energy and to utilize alternative heating options. He built a solarium into the design of his home which is great for capturing the natural heat from the sun

along with two wood burning stoves that help heat his home during the winter. He definitely has a mind for thinking about renewable energy. For Sanford’s home we put as much photovoltaic tiles on as we could fit to give him nearly a 15 kilowatt system. Paired with his three power walls, he'll be in great shape to generate most of his electric needs. I finished my time with Sanford by asking him what the process was like to buy a Solar Roof with Weddle and Sons.

It was a very easy process. I’m trying to remember - it seems like things moved quite along. I called up, a fella came out and inspected the roof, gave me some initial information on it looked it over and it made sense to me and it was actually an extremely easy process.
